there is an exterior driver side door handle for sale on e bay from a v70, similar year. Will it fit my 1998 S70?

Klaus, I've worked on it for a hour or so but cant figure out how switch the lock tumbler. Please advise.

There should be a spring plate on the back of the lock cylinder, push it in with a very small screwdriver. Try using your own key in the lock; turn it a little and pull while pushing.

The ignition keys require the original key to unlock before removal. I hope yours is not this way!!

The S and V 70 cars are the same. Isn't there a Pick&pull yard close to you? That would be much cheaper, just bring a T25 with you to take the new one. You will want to swap the lock tumbler.

Long story short, the door would not open inside or out. I had to pull the panel and break the inner latch to open the door and replace. While doing that I damaged the rod that extends out from the tumbler. while trying to straighten the rod, it broke. Therefore, I have to replace the handle with another handle that has a key, unless you may have another option.

Our Pick & Pull never has a good selection of s and v series Volvos for some reason.

I think I would call junkyards and look for a complete door, same color/year, and just swap the lock.
