pulls to the right when braking...sometimes 850 97

Every once in a while, I notice that the car pulls to the right when braking. The problem is that it only happens once in awhile and I can't figure out how to repeat it. It usually happens when the brakes are not applied for awhile, like slowing down while exiting the freeway after a few miles or so. After one or two stops then everything is normal.

What are some of the things I should check? What make the car pull in the first place?

    Couple of things:

    1) Check your tie rod ends and ball joints.

    2) Make sure your calipers are still sliding smoothly (i.e., push back the pads and see if you can move the caliper by hand back and side to side). This is what was causing it for me on a 740 I had.

It seems to me that the left caliper is not doing its job and the right one is. Thats why it pulls right when braking. Does this make sense? I'll try to bleed the left side and see what happens.

      You should bleed them all.

Some things to check...alignment, suspension, tires, braking hardware, brake fluid.

    Steve,

I would start by checking the front calipers. If the car pulls to the right when braking, the caliper is getting stuck and not openning. You might want to flush the brake fluid before trying to change the caliper. I ma also not sure if a dirty ABS sensor can cause the caliper not to open all the way.

Also when you do the road test

make sure that the pavement and road are flat

this might be your pulling problem
