How about these tires? 850 95

Thanks for earlier comments on tires. Fairly extensive research indicates best tires in $100/tire/unmounted range (205/50/16) for Southern California driving:

1. Pirelli P7000 Z-rated, summer version

2. Bridgestone Potenza RE730, new tire, so few comments available about longevity.

My local high-perfomance tire shop owner says Bridgestones will only give 25,000 miles while Pirellis will last longer and be otherwise as pleasing. Any comments?

I have the RE730s and they do seem to be wearing fast but

no faster then the OEM Michelins that came on my T5 (worn

out at 24K miles). RE730s are a lot less expensive, too.

I do find that they give a harsher ride then the OEM Michelin

(XGT V4s) did. In the $100 price range they are going to

    be hard to beat.

Driving habits are probably the biggest factor in tire wear

for the performance tires mentioned. And the RE730s seem to

encourage you to take that turn just a bit faster then you

might with a more moderate performing tire. I suspect my wife

could get 30K out of them if they were on her wagon (Michelin

Pilots on that car) but I'll be happy to see 25K from them

    on my T5.

Friends who have used the Potenza line (not sure which one) now call them "Pretends-a-to-be-a-tire". They didnt last long.

    KGullette-

Check on a set of Fulda Carat Assurro- directional, M+S rated, H speed rating. If you don't drive over 130 MPH, it's plenty of tire for you. IMHO, I wouldn't waste my money on Pirellis. I drive a LOT of Volvos with the only major differences being tires. The Pirelli's don't measure up to most of the other choices. I have the Fuldas on my '93 during the summer and have liked the performance and wear. Michelin makes some great tires but charges accordingly. For an all-season tire, check out Nokian Hakka NRW- directional, EXTREME RATED M+S, H speed rated, 50k treadwear warranty.
