Oil Change S70 98

Does one need to put the 98' s70 upon on ramps to change the oil, or can it be done on a flat surface with no elevation of the vehicle? If you do it with the ramps, will the angle of the vehicle allow all the old oil to drain properly?

Cheers.

Tim

Try a TopSider. They're GREAT! Suction removal of oil via the dipstick tube is the preferred method for Mercedes' and, despite what some say, this method does NOT leave behind any more old oil than conventional methods (I've even read that it's actually more effective at removing "every last bit").

Plus, you don't have to mess with the drain plug at all! And on my wife's benz, the oil cartidge is installed from above, making the whole process very much a white glove affair!

Topsiders are available at marine supply stores for around $40.

I have no vested interest here other than to share my good experiences :-)

It might be a very good method, I have never used it. But I get peace of mind knowing that any metal flakes that settle in the bottom of the pan will definitely come out easier via the drain plug method vs being sucked up the system.

I do mine without ramps. A bit tricky (but easier then the 850s

    which sit a bit lower).

Main thing is you get about 6 quarts so you need an oil pan that

holds it all and fits under the car.

How much do you put back in. I put exactly 6 quarts. Is this high low or just right?

I always replace with 6qts and it fills up to 3/4 mark of the dipstick, just right.
