Lifter Noise S70 1998

I have a 1998 S70 GLT with 75,000 miles, purchased used at 34,000 miles. Lifter noise started about 3 months ago, Volvo dealer suggested using synthetic oil (did not help) and independent shop suggested adding Marvel Mystery Oil to oil (also did not help). I cannot help feeling that this car should not be having this problem with so few miles on it. Any insight or suggestions would be welcomed.

My T5 engine has always been noisy, too, and I've used Mobil-1 from 1000 miles onward.

Amazing that a Toyota Camry is half the price of a Volvo, but quiet as a wristwatch.

I'm surprised you didn't have lifter noise from the start.

The I5 20 valve engine has always been known for lifter noise.
