Re: MPG...???? I get 14.6 in town 850 1995

I get 22-23 mpg, mostly easy hwy driving at around 70mph. I actually expected more. I also noticed that I get better MPG in the summer, 25 or so.

Re: MPG...???? I get 14.6 in town 850 97R

Best ever was 26 mpg on a 200 mile trip, light throttle all they way. Typical mileage on 1:2, city:highway is around 22-23 mpg. Driven quickly but not ballistic, around 17-18 mpg. Driven hard it drops to low teens.

Re: MPG...???? I get 14.6 in town 850 1994Turbo

I get 24-25 mpg "around town", 29-31 highway, 1998 V70 non-turbo with 5-speed. I imagine the difference is having an automatic, plus I am in a semi-rural area.

Re: MPG...???? I get 14.6 in town 850 1994Turbo

I get around 17-19 city in my 850 wagon with a turbo, around 27-28 highway. I have 76 k on it, but just changed the serpentine, timing belt, plugs,...cap rotor. Prior to that my mileage went down a couple miles per. Hope this helps.

Re: MPG...???? I get 14.6 in town 850 1994Turbo

In Houston I probably average etween 15.5 and 17.5 MPG with my 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo sedan.

On the other hand, my wife gets between 17.5 and 19.5 in the city- she's much more conservative a driver.

On the highway we get between 26 and 28.5 MPG.

Re: MPG...???? I get 14.6 in town 850 1997Turbo

I get the exact same MPG. I don't even pay attention to the trip computer anymore since it seems to have a mind of it's own. I'm no expert but I expect my MPG to change every few days or so since I drive various speeds/distances. Not so; my average MPg stays the same for months. And I have a new gas filter, plugs and cap 'n' rotor. My next fix is the O2 sensor. BTW, my average MPH stays at 15; that hasn't changed recently either. Only when I drive for over an hour does it change; then next time back to a sub-20 number. I don't get it. Anyone care to explain????? TIA

Re: MPG...???? I get 14.6 in town 850 1997Turbo

Do you reset your computer every now and then? The average

speed is since the last time it was reset. I reset mine on

the way to work then drive 75 mph for 33 miles. The last

1.5 miles involves 2 lights and a 25 mph zone. The average

speed comes to about 55. You don't have to be stopped at a

light long to drop the average speed way down (it is calculating

average speed when you are stopped). Basically, it is a function

of time and distance.

Re: MPG...???? I get 14.6 in town 850 1994Turbo

I got 13.8 before...running 100 octane gasoline, and yes..pedal to the metal.

Is your car sluggish nowadays? My 240 was doing 10 mpg when one of the spark plugs was dead and bad kickdown cable.
