Stupid headlight wipers.
This is a rant because it took me close to an hour and a half to remove these idiotic things.

All I could think of while doing this removal was that there was some jerk at Volvo that told some other jerk at Volvo that "hey, let's put these dorky wipers on the headlights and those stupid Americans will think they're cool".

Tell me where in the US headlight wipers are a necessity as part of a "cold weather package".

All of the European cars had wipers until someone figured out that a simple spraying will do the same job even when below zero.

I agree. Especially when there is freezing rain and the wipers are glued to the headlights - then, when turned on the owner is presented with a costly problem. They do look cool... don't work for beans!

I am thinking about doing a delete on my 850 project car, but what to do with the hoses? Just fill the ends with hot glue?

All I did with the hoses on #1 daughter's S40 was to plug the line going to the headlights. The headlight wipers only use a tee off the windshield sprayer feed. I just plugged the hose that went to the wipers. Pretty simple fix.

But, geeze, it's just that those stupid wipers get my goat.

Heading East to Ohio starting tomorrow and then back in a week. We go to the Pacific Northwest in a few weeks, for a few weeks. It will be good to be 'unplugged' for a month...
