I take back all the bad things I said about the ProLogic Stereo in my V70R V70-XC70 2000R

I typically listen to my local NPR station while driving around town. Even when they are playing music they do not have terribly good stereo separation in their transmission.

I've found that most other stations in the area that play more mainstream music do broadcast in "true" stereo.

The Dolby ProLogic system does an amazing job on these stations. It is amazing how big the difference is. Now I'm wondering why I don't notice that much improvement when I play CD's.

    Hi Bill,

Get some CD recorded in pro logic dolby. Not many out there, but big difference.

Can you post some suggestions? I've been looking for some time, but never found any. I found some DTS recordings, but that doesn't work in this case.

      Thanks in advance!

MTM chip and a UUC Velocimax exhaust. Good guess Kai. ;-)

I'm going to be going to a 4-wheel-dyno in a few weeks. The 265hp will become the actual hp numbers.

MTM publishes that they can get 265hp out of their chip and exhaust. I chose a less restrictive exhaust from Velocimax. I figure I'm over the 265hp mark is that's at all accurate.

I never expected the difference to be as pronounced as it was. The traction control system kicks in now when I accelerate. I've never dumped the clutch above 3,000rpms when the system was stock. After changing out the exhaust (stock chip) ESP didn't kick in. Now when I just accelerate hard without even revving the engine I get ESP kicking in! Wow

      (ESP = Electronic Stability Program)

Makes me want a chip in the V70R too!

What is amazing is all I did was chip/exhaust. Some people are talking about Stage III+ tuning, which will switch out the turbo and air intake system (I think). There are tuners producings TT's with over 300hp... amazing. I see this as excessive, but it interests me. I'm happy with where I have the TT now. I may change out my intercooler after my warranty is over. It is supposed to keep the air temp entering the engine down to a reasonable temp (10-20 degrees lower than ambient).

I don't want to get too far off the beaten (read Volvo) path but there was an article in European car about a tuner in Vancouver who'd taken both a Golf and a Beetle and thrown the 4Matic system and a twin turbo'd VR6 engine under their hoods. They were making in excess of 400 HP and while this may seem excessive/impressive in itself, what I found more intriguing was the fact that the journalist who wrote the article stated that they were both extremely driveable even after all of these mods added up to 400+ on the dyno.
