      Re: Fault code 4-3-5 850 1995

From previous posts it appears that there are two schools of thought on removing the intake manifold to replace the O2 sensor. What is your expert opinion on this? Also for the shadetree mechanic, what is the degree of difficulty in replacing the sensor?

      Thanx

The link below has a pictorial post on the replacement of the O2 sensor. No you don't have to remove the intake or exhaust manifold.

I've replaced the front O2 sensor myself. It took about an hour on my back under the car, which was supported by two Rhino Ramps. My car is a 94 Turbo. Getting the wiring out of the clips on the motor mount was tricky, and I just zip tied them back on. It can be done, but it takes some time an dexterity.

Do you have to remove the intake manifold to replace the front O2 sensor?

No, the front O2 sensor is nowhere near the intake manifold as it's threaded into the exhaust manifold in front of your cat. conv.. The rear O2 sensor is behind the cat. conv.

I think you're thinking of the knock sensors, not related.
