engine number location V70-XC70

I must determine the correct radiator for my v70. That requires me to find the engine number to get the size of the engine. I have been looking and can't find it. Does anyone know where it is located on a 1998 v70?
Thanks, John v50, v70, 245

Engine choices for 1998 are 2.3L with the high pressure turbo, and 2.4L with the low pressure turbo. The only real difference is with a manual as there is no tranny cooler in the radiator, nor oil cooler in the NA engines.

The embossed engine number is on the block between it and the firewall. Best read with a mirror as it is not visible directly.

If both engines are turbo then I have a odd duck. I don't have turbo on my engine. Is the stamping on the block on the passengers side? Would it be under some cowling around the exhaust?
As always, thanks for your assistance.

Forget the engine number! (which is on the passenger side) You need a radiator. You have a non-turbo with automatic (most US cars), so look at Tapsa Volvo:

I think you will find the OEM part quite reasonable. Of course, you could shop at FCP and not pay shipping...

Believe it or not my local NAPA was very competitive in price with FCP and I had to find out exactly what engine I had (23 vs 24 litre -- never heard of 23 litre) and I could get it the same day. But then VOLUPARTS has one for $140. The best price yet.

I don't know about '98, but on our '04 the serial number is on a tag on the timing belt cover or stamped on a boss on the back of the motor, right behind the water pump.
