foil in oil 850

just added a bit of oil to 1994 855T and a piece of foil from oil bottle went in. I tried to fish out but was lost. what will this do? will filter catch it or is it possible more damage could be done?

quick responses would be appreciated, would like to drive car again soon.

The pump should have a screen on it that would catch anything like a small piece of foil. As long as it makes it down to the pan you should be OK.

A small piece of foil will be caught by the filter and do no harm. If the entire round foil fell in, it might be chewed up by the oil pump. In any case, it is to light to fall to the bottom of the sump and stay there and be flushed out by the next flush.

On a cold engine, the oil pressure is close to 50 psi, plenty to deform the foil if it gets caught in a passage way. The oil gets pumped from the sump, to the filter, and then the block.
