1994 with a 1997 sub-frame? [Control Arms] 850 1994

Okay, so I need to replace the driver's side control arm. I'm about to order and then I realize that there's something funky about my car.

When I had to replace the engine mount - the listed mount didn't fit. Holes were different and the pins wouldn't align. After two wrong mounts showed up, I gave up and ordered by sight.

Seems the engine mount from a 1997 model fits this subframe. Fixed, forgotten, and moved on.

Except I just realized that I need a new driver's control arm... and these also seem to be model-year specific.

So.. if I seem to have a 1997 subframe... I should be ordering a control arm from a 1997? Does it make a difference? how do I tell which arm I need?

    1994 with a 1997 sub-frame? [Control Arms] 850 1994

I know you don't like FCP any more, but here is what they say about control arms for the 1994:

    1994 Volvo 850 Control ArmEngine base: 2.4L L5
For 1994 models, you will need to locate your Chassis number (last 6 of the VIN). Fits all sedans after chassis 131537 and wagons after chassis 037526. For models before those chassis breaks, for this arm to work, both the left and right side control arms need to be replaced at the same time.

Otherwise, early 1994's have the same suspension as the 1993...

All control arms for the later 1994 - 1997 are the same.

Humm. My chassis is 134637, so it'd be after the cutoff. Dang.. that's just like my C70, later model with typical post-model year parts.

Thanks, Hopes that this works out.

Will post when I can get it proper plates on it. Almost there... She's humming pretty nice with the new manifold in place. I'm nearly down to just a couple cosmetic fixes....

        New Control Arms - 1995... 850 1994

New arms arrived this AM, so despite the constant rain, I went out and swapped them out. Control arms for a 1995+ fit perfectly. The switch was largely without incident.

Good thing too, the driver's arms was wasted. cracked boot, Dry with no grease, passenger side was okay, but I replaced it anyway just to get it all even.

The car's off at the shop getting a 4-wheel alignment and safety inspection. Best case, It'll pass and get plates on Monday. Worst case, it'll need a new rear exhaust.
