Rough gear change 850

A friend wanted to hear the engine in my 95 850 T5R and was revving the engine while in neutral. Right after, I started to drive and the car did not seem to want to shift gears properly. In 1st (i think) it goes to high rpm then when it does shift, it is very rough. The excelleration that I'm used to from the T5R doesn't seem to be what it used to either. Any ideas? Throttle body? Transmission? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Maybe he messed with your mode or TRACS switch. I would exercise all switches.

I would give him a Gibbs' slap and ask him if he will pay a dealer an hour's labor to find the problem.

What kind of car does your friend own?

how about a waste gate problem?

Last time I went to Swedish Car Day at the Lars Anderson Auto Museum, they had about 800 car owners go to their cars and rev them up. I could not believe how many guys put their pedals on the floor. A hundred cars going ACK,ACK,ACK,ACK...

I did not go to my car, instead, i went to a 740 drag car with a supercharged Mustang motor, 900HP - what a sound! And it looked bone stock except for a hugh intercooler peeking out under its bumper, a battery disconnect switch sticking out of the rear bumper, and some extra gauges.

Never let a 'friend' show off your car. If he wants to hear the engine, open the hood while at idle. You might have just overheated the ATF, assuming you were at normal operating temps when you stopped to say hello and show off.

Check the level of the ATF on a cold running engine. If it is too full, remember that it expands a lot with heat which is why the radiator has ATF cooler built in. If the ATF is brownish, flush it now.

I have a '95 non-turbo that does that also but it's because the tranmission is in the "limp home mode" due to the speedometer not working. Is the arrow flashing in the instrument cluster?
