Radiator failure? V70-XC70

My 98 V70 is leaking coolant. I can't see where it is coming from but it is slowly dripping out of the bottom of the car. I see some pooling of coolant on the visible edges of the radiator mid-way between top and bottom. The hoses seem in good shape. I think it is likely a leaking radiator but I hate to buy a new one before I know it couldn't be anything else. Thoughts anyone?
John

Most of the V70 radiators fail on the passenger side. Just use a paper towel and you should find antifreeze where the plastic meets the metal, the side of the radiator.

the rads on my 850T and 99 XC develop leaks within a few yrs of installs, doesnt matter OEM or Nissen aftermkt. They all eventually leak at plastic end tank crimps or at the ATF/oil cooler nipples. What I'd suggest is to buy one from fcpgroton and tell them you want the lifetime warranty that they offer DIYs.

V70 radiators start leaking at the junction between the plastic side caps and the metal core. If your radiator is original then it may be time for a replacement.

Find a shop that can pressure test the cooling system. Then any leaks can be identified. If necessary the shop can add fluorescent dye in the coolant to help pinpoint the leak with an ultraviolet lamp.

If replacement is necessary then the radiator and heater hoses should also be inspected. Use genuine Volvo hoses - they are much better than aftermarket. Tasca Volvo sells part online at a significant discount.

    Regards,

    Mike
