Intermittent Power steering noise S70

I have a customers car that had powersteering noise when it heated up.
I checked the fluid first and it was good, then I had it flushed with the proper fluid for the volvos. It seemed to help for a month or so. Then the noise came back. I ordered a used pump and the noise went away. a month later it came back, so i tried another pump that I had at my shop that was leaking, but i wanted to see if the noise would go away. It did not.

I have not seen this issue before on these cars. whenever i hear the whinning noise and the fluid is full, a flush always takes car of the noise.

I suspect maybe blockage in the rack, but i dont want to change a rack on a hunch.

My 1996 made a little noise, so I added Lucas PS 'fixit' to the reservior. Not a lot, just a few ounces but that did the trick.

If you get noise all of the time, the fluid is cavatating in the pump and is probably just a little low. You didn't state what kind of fluid you used or the year of the S70.

Remember, full lock on the wheel should cause some noise and the owner is to be repremanded to NOT DO that.

i will try that next time he is in. Another shop did the flush who i trust. they told me they used the fluid it calls for. maybe i should do my own investigation of the type of fluid they used.
he knows that is normal and not to do a full lock.
