Good web based parts source? Done with FCP. 850

FCPs site has become too frustrating to deal with anymore. Having to call or email about a part I can't find shouldn't be required. Sorry guys, I've stuck with you since the old Volvo only site hoping it would get better. It hasn't.

I use IPD for some parts but need a good source of reasonably priced OEM stuff like door straps, Mann filters, oil plug crush washers, interior bits, hoses, belts, etc. Stuff I don't go to the Upullit for.

Recommendations? Must have a good web site so I can see what I'm ordering.

Thanks,

Erwin

I've owned Volvo's since 1988 and have found too that FCP is not as good as they once were...website is not intuitive, user friendly etc... I've switched to eEuroparts (~80%) and am very satisfied...I only purchase select parts from FCP anymore. Some from IPD... I've not purchased anything from Tasca...but will check them out...

There is an e-bay seller in Chicago selling an increasing amount of Volvo stuff, much of it from Estonia. it is called "swedish auto lamps for less", or similar. some of their stuff is a little different, such as 6 240 series brake hoses for $30, when in stock. I think they use Austrian made Semperit beake hose, and have it crimped and cut in Estonia.might be worth looking at.

    Not done with FCP. 850

I ordered a bunch of parts in January. One was a backup light switch for my mannual tranny. Just this week, I opened the box after exposing the switch on the tranny and to my surprise - it was an old fashioned switch. Meaning it had small spade couplings, 2 thin wires, and 2 crimp wire connectors. The part number on the outside of the box was correct! So I couldn't fault FCP for the NOS part.

I wrote them an email and they followed up immediately. The next day, FCP sent me a new switch for the 854 and told me to keep the one they sent me.

So, for postage, any Brickboarder reading this can ask for the switch.

BTW, I also liked the "old" website better than the new one. Helping you guys, I constantly have to change my 'garage' because the search is by year, model, etc. Plus, I liked having to get the entire front suspension displayed and picking the parts needed.

I bought some stuff from FCP and got wrong parts. I looked up Tasca and prices were similar. In fact the last time I did a FE rebuild Tasca was cheaper for original Volvo than FCP was for OEM. I still like FCP, just wish they kept they act together. They expanded and success went to their head. I wish them luck, and I shop them, but usually order Tasca.

note: the last time I needed to order Tasca did not answer their phone....for days! I left messages and finally called Borton Volvo in MN. Now THOSE GUYS are really on the ball.... Try Borton too.

Done with FCP for more than a year now... . 850

Folks have given you good recommendations.

I had too many issues with wrong parts, late shipping, and terrible customer service with FCP.

I buy most of my generic stuff from eeuroparts.com and dealer stuff from Tasca Volvo.

RockAuto has a pretty good selection and VLVWorld is a good source as well.

IMHO, there's no reason to buy any dealer part from anyone other than Tasca. tasca's got the best dealer prices around. Barely above cost - usually cheaper than FCP and any other source

The things you're mentioning are probably dealer items. You may be able to search and find an online dealer site. One has been mentioned hear a few times but I can't recall the name.

I'll try Tasca mentioned below. I used to get this stuff from FCP in the past fwiw. Time to replace the driver's side door strap again. 8 years, not bad.

      Thanks,

      Erwin

        Tasca 850

Tasca is ok for blue box Volvo parts. But for remanufactured parts it is hard to beat FCP. Some parts just are too expensive for brand new so even Tasca is tough on price for me. Example, I bought a Bosche reman alternator from FCP for a ton less than the factory part at Tasca. So I guess you need to shop around depending on what you are buying.

          Very true.

However, I too have had a bad experience with FCP. I still order from them, but like you, selectively.
