1995 850 - Are front/back door *latches* interchangeable?? 850

My driver's door latch is going south. The door doesn't fly open (yet) but if I hit a bump the dinger starts its thing and frequently I can't shut it off for love nor money. I have a spare rear driver's side door (don't ask), if front-back latches from the same side are interchangeable I know what my project is for tomorrow.

Advice/comments please?

PS - no advice to disable the dinger, please, unless you know some way of circumventing the fact that it's on a fuse with 3-4 other functions.

I don't think that will work. The driver door has more electrics than the rear.

You could try adjusting the latch on the B pillar. Verify that the latch mechanism inside the door is not loose.

The micro switch on the door latch may be worn or dirty. Try moving it by hand a few times, push the switch to the outside and then pull the door handle to pop the switch back to the open position. If it appears to be 'sticky', a small abount of oil might do the trick.

Best bet is to get a 'new' latch mechanism from the local pick&pull - any year 850 will work. The 1998+ will not work.
