850 R production figures? 850 1997

Does anyone know the production totals for the 850 R? Even in a town like Austin, where BMW's and such are like belly buttons, I haven't seen another 850 R in over a year.

My wife is making fun of me because I'm acting like a proud new father, slathering attention on my recently aquired '97 850 R. All I can say is, it was worth the wait! What an incredible car.

Chris,

It is difficult to give you a number for the R series exclusively, I have a number of Volvo publications and they all list 850s as a total group, split between sedans and wagons.

Re: 850 R production figures? 850 1997

Thanks, Tony. I found one old magazine review of the '96 model that quoted "around 2000" for the R. One could assume that the figure was similar for '97 as well. Typically, I do not assume. :^)

I'd still like to know, just out of curiosity.
