Any idea how to re-set a radio? I bought a "project" car and when I powered it up the first time, all I can get on the radio is the word "OFF", even when I know it is on. In the past when I had disconected the battery in other 850s, the radio always said "CODE" when I turned it on the first time. I do have the 4-digit code but I can't get the radio to ask for it. I have heard that if the wrong code is imput, the unit will "lock", is the unit junk?

It's now saying "off" because you put the wrong code in 3Xs. To get the right code, you'll have to call your Volvo dealers parts dept with all the #s on the top of the unit plus model # and color of face (grey or black). To get it out of being locked up, leave the key in position 1 so that the radio is turned on (saying "off"), ignition off (dash lights off) for 2 hours, then it will say "code" again. If you put the code in and it doesn't work the first time, stop because you have the wrong code.
