CD Changer Question S70 1998

I have a S70 T5 with a SC-816 stereo and a Alpine CHS-601 Changer. Is it possible to connect these together? Also is the Volvo prewired in the trunk for the changer?

Re: CD Changer Question S70 1998

I have found that my Volvo is pre-wired for a CD changer. Where and how would I find the cable in the trunk?

Re: CD Changer Question S70 1998

Neither my 98 S70 nor my 5 850 were prewired. I used the Peripheral adaper and put the S70's in the glove box. This worked great! For the 850 the Alpine changer did not fit into the glove box because it was a tad smaller so I ran the cable under the carpet to the rear and put under the floor door (wagon). If you pull out the radio you can see if there is a prewired cable plugged in ornot. This is exceedingly easy to do. Gently push in on the tabs and out pops a handy finger hold to pull on.

Re: CD Changer Question S70 1998

Yes you can. You need the Peripheral Products VOLIL adapter.

The instructions that come with the adapter are pretty clear. You plug the adapter in the back of the radio, connect the yellow wire to a constant source and use the din cable that came with the changer.

The adapter works with all 600 series "M-bus" Alpine changers.

Where to buy CD Changer adaptor on-line? 850 1996R

Can someone post where they bought the CD-Changer adaptor and the price?

I'm looking for a mailorder source.

Thanks!

Re: Where to buy CD Changer adaptor on-line? 850 1996R

My 95 850 required a Peripheral VOLALP interface for which I paid $69.00 at Circuit City. Car not pre-wired.

For my 98 S70 I had to order a Peripheral VOLIL 96-99 Volvo to Alpine M-Bus changer interface from a local Alpine dealer for $75.00. This car was also not pre-wired.

Both interfaces operate an Alpine CHM-S620 changer flawlessly.

After searching the 'net I decided to purchase someplace that I could easily return/exchange. FWIW

Very easy installations...

Steve
