One hunts top speed, but rarely finds it absolutely; even if conditions
allow the asymptotic curve to actually reach a fixed height over time, the
number at which one has arrived only pertains to that one set of
conditions.
My speedometer is easily 3% conservative. (Which is another reason Volvo's
optional proposed VTLS choice of going from /50s to /55s made no sense to
me.) If it says 81, I know it's doing over 83, pushing 84.
So when the needle is past the 140, obviously approaching where 145 would
be, you can assume the car is approaching 150.
I've noticed no significant/serious lightening of the front end at high
speed, though one does not attempt to reach the asymptote in a stiff
cross-wind, either... (A 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix at 135 mph on OEM
polyglas (not radial, "what's a speed rating?") tires -- my first foray
into those realms -- was becoming very interesting, however, in terms of a
light front end.)
In terms of redline, with TC locked, about 27 mph per 1K revs; 6K rpm
implies 162 mph...
145 - 150 is doable. Here's someone else's image:
