Struts, etc??? S40-V40

2001 S40...130k miles. It's time to do the struts all around...I think I will also do the springs. So, while I am in there, doing the struts and springs, anything else I HAVE to change (while its apart)? Plus...Bilstein Touring or KYB? Any suggestions? I want a comfortable ride for this lil bucket of bolts!

Klaus....I did some measuring...just for reference, I inflated all tires. I measured from the ground, intersecting the center of the wheel, to the edge of the wheelwell. All 4 corners were 25" (+/- 1/2"). So one was 25, 25.5, 24.5, 25. So, given those #'s, I guess the springs are doing fine???

Those are in the ball park. If the 24.5" is on the front, I would suspect a bushing died.

When you say "Bushing", are we talking about bushings in the swing arm? or something else? I will get under the car this coming weekend...

I am not an advocate for replacing springs, unless one is broken. There are so many variables, including ride hight, that keep me on OEM springs. They only get weak if there is consistant overloading, and most S/V40s don't get used like that.

As for which shocks to get, that is personal. New shocks will immediately improve the ride and make it more comfortable. KYB feel a bit harsher than Bilstein Touring. Even replacing with Sachs/Boge (OEM) will improve the ride and do less damage to your wallet.
