Horn not working... red bits inside the wheel are good?! What else? (Picture) 850 1994

I discovered that the horn was non-functional on the trip home with my new 850.

Some quick research revealed that the problem is usually the isolator bushings on the contacts inside the steering wheel.

I took the usual precautions and removed the airbag unit and accessed the horn contacts.

Both sides look as pictured. Nothing wrong at all.

Aside from the fuse (shared with wipers and working fine), any thoughts on where to check next?

No picture. Did you try supplying 12V to the horns?

No picture? Weird. It shows up for me.

Check my "White Album" over at TurboBricks.com

But no, I didn't try supplying power directly to the horns. Sitting there with the airbag in my lap, I just wanted to put it back in a get out of its way :)

After re-assembly, I removed the lower panel and peered up under the dash, but saw no obvious signs of trouble.

I'll try some direct power in the AM.

The other post your imbedded picture didn't show up until I went to Turbobricks and logged in. Strange.

Also about the same time I got a virus that locked up my PC. Arrrrrgh.

You got a virus from visiting TurboBricks?

Coincidence? I am not sure, but within 20 minutes of logging in to Turbobricks I lost my PC. McAfee help desk found a virus - LDR.MCB - and they called it a possible Trojan horse. I didn't go to any other web sites during that session nor open any emails.

Who knows. Scan your machine for LDR.MCB If you find it, rename it, delete it, and empty your trash can.

I got nothing. I run with a large number of protections loaded into my browser, #1 being NoScript. NoScript has stopped a couple dozen virus and redirect attacks from weirdo websites. It can make e-commerce tricky, but I'll gladly take one-time inconvenience over being virused.

Incidentally, "Ghostery" also helps ID trackers sitting on each site. Interestingly enough, there are four trackers on BrickBoard right now (Google Analytics, Google +1, Quantcast, and Facebook Connect) each is attempting to track my internet details. According to my software, there are Zero trackers on TurboBricks.

'course Trackers are spyware, not viruses.
