CODE 425 "check engine" C70 1997

Could someone please help us, we have a 1997 V70 (Euro specs) and the check engine light keeps coming on, with a code (according to the dealer) of 425. Is there either a way to reset this, or can someone tell me exactly what the problem is? All I get from the dealer is "we think it is a gas sensor that probably isn't bad"??? (could be the language barrier also?) The car runs fine (awesome on the autobahn with the 5-speed!) and there is no noticable problem before during or after the "check engine" light comes on. Thanks Brad & Toni

    Re: CODE 425 "check engine" C70 1997

That code is for "rear O2 sensor control" and there's several possible causes:

    -Uneven compression (not likely)

-Air leakage in the intake system (very likely.....check for vacuum leaks, a bad vacuum hose as I've seen that with that code before too)

-air leakage in the exhaust system (you'ld hear it, exhaust leak)

-faulty fuel and residual pressure (your dealer should have checked that too, not likely IMHO)

-defective rear O2 sensor (also possible)
