Is this car a lemon? V70-XC70 2001

Immediately (1 day) after delivery, I had to take my new V70 T5 in for repair because the keyless entry system and one of the power door locks were not operating - and it was in the shop for 9 days.

I got it back a few days ago, and now have learned that (1) the wrong armrest was installed in the backseat - it lacks the cupholders that my kids were looking forward to (a representative at Volvo's national customer service hotline confirmed that my car has the wrong armrest); (2) one of the rear doors cannot be opened from the inside (even if the child safety feature is turned off): (3) the front passenger door won't stay open on even a slight hill (it slams back shut the minute one lets go of it, instead of catching and staying open)and (4) the radio in my $1000 optional "premium sound system" emits a high-pitched feedback-type noise on many AM radio stations, including the major all-news radion station in my area (I've never had this problem in any other car, so I don't think it's a reception problem.)

Are other people having similar problems? Do you think these things are to be expected from a new car? I'm getting worried that there may be a lot more things wrong, perhaps in the engine, that I'm not sophisticated enough to know about.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Susan,

Don't throw in the bag yet. It is a wonderful car that will provide excellent safety for you. Unfortunately, you don't get a punch list with a new car like you do a new home. I agree 100% with the other response, find a good service department and have those issues resolved. If another dealer is not available and you are not getting what you want from your current service department, go back to your sales rep and explain your frustration-his job should not stop at the closing of the deal if he wants a happy/returning client that will refer him!

Susan,

God did not make your car.......so it will not be perfect. Just take your time and get every thing sorted out, and I am just about 100% sure you will be very happy with the car.

One piece of advice though.....find a quaity Volvo dealer in your area. You do not have to keep going to the dealer where you bought the car.....it is under warranty, and you can go to any Volvo dealer you want for service. Dont think twice about going the extra few miles to the next Volvo dealer IF their service dept. is better.....just make time for it and go there. Shop around and find the best service dept....that should be your #1 task at hand right now. A good service department will make your ownership a very very nice thing!

Good luck with the new car......its not a lemon...its just very new
