Micro-switch; evaporator 850 1995

I just purchased a '95 854 for the missus. The seller had all the records and now I see it had many of the problems documented on this and other sites (Kino's, Volvospeed, etc.) The shifter micro-switch, seat cable and O2 sensors were all replaced at one time or another. Just this past summer freon was added to the A/C system. Two questions:

#1 The shifter still gets stuck and requires jiggling of the key after starting the car. The ABS light in the dash also comes on, until the key is jiggled. Is this still the micro-switch or is it the ignition key assembly?

#2 Please tell me that by '95, Vovlo fixed the evaporator problem that Kino had with his '94 850s.

Thanks.

    Re: Micro-switch; evaporator 850 1995

    Martin,

Well before I owned it, very early in it's life, my 850 model-year-1995 had to have it's evap replaced, according to Volvo aust. records. Check out the rate of failure across years on kino's survey #1

    http://home.att.net/~kino.velez/volvo/850sr1.htm

Evap failure goes down over time according to these stats, but that is not necessarily a function of increased evap reliability (eg a `98 vehicle has not been around as long as a `93 so we aren't comparing "apples with apples".)

the problem with the key might be the electrical part of the ignition switch. does the key return to the on position when released if not then replace he switch. this should cure the abs lifgt and the shift lock.as fo

    r the evap. sorry.
