Has anyone tried/upgraded the halogen headlights on a S70 to the Xenon ones found on later models? how practical or impractical might this project idea be? looking for an upgrade, my old eyes ain't what they used to be...

The new xenon headlamp modules will not fit in your 1998-2000.

You might want to try some new E-code lenses, they throw a better beam of light. FCP has some. Remember, you cannot touch the reflecting material on the inside of the headlight modules.

Getting brighter bulbs usually results in more heat and the wires tend to degrade.

thanks Klaus for your wisdom...are the E code lenses available separate, or is whole assembly purchase required? did some looking around, a lot of folks have suggested the use of a better bulb(Phillips 9006, or something like that)...but this would/could wiring problems?

No change in assembly/unit, just the lense gets replaced. There are 3 10mm bolts that hold in each unit and the units slide out towards the front.

There are a bunch of clips that hold the glass to the unit, the clips can be reused.

I am totally confused. I checked Ebay, where FCP has a pair of Ecode lenses for $112 + $10 shipping:
