how do I remove mini-fuses S40-V40 2000

Hi All,
I am in the process of sorting out a high-mileage 2000 V40 for my 16yr old to drive.

One of the issues we have encountered is no interior lights. The fuse for this is under the hood. But it is a mini-fuse encased with 2 others in a yellow plastic block. Although I have the little fuse tool that came with the car it is too big to fit in the yellow block. I have tried prying with small screwdrivers and tiny pliers--no luck!

As a 240 driver the whole thing is pretty alien. So any advice on how to extract the fuse(s) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance as always,

Rod

Answered! S40-V40 2000

OK So I just used very thin pliers and yanked hard. We got the fuses switched out. He now has interior lights and tunes, so is very happy.

Thanks Klaus,

Cheers,
Rod

I am surprised that a pair of needle nose pliers will not grab it enough to pull it out. I found this on Ebay:

A 120 piece mini fuse kit for $5.09 and free shipping.

HI Klaus,

Thanks for replying! I should try and get a good photo (maybe when it stops snowing...) It is weird the little yellow plastic box where the 3 fuses are located has tiny clips that close over the top of the fuses but there is no room to push the clips apart to extract the fuse. I am baffled as to how they installed them in the first place... I have seen it suggested that the intention was to get you to buy the whole unit, and that one should just break it to pull the fuse out.

Cheers,
Rod

PS the ebay thing looks like a good deal the tool that comes with the car is identical to that shown in the box
