Radiator Replacement V70-XC70 1999

I have a 1999 v70 with a slowly leaking radiator. Am I asking for trouble pulling a radiator off a pull a part car?

What you don't know... Does the replacement radiator not leak? Does it look a lot better than yours? It's a lot of labor for a chance.

If you do go the P&P route, make sure the hose clamps are put on exactly where the clamps are on the P&P radiator.

I'm in year three of my junkyard radiator. Still going strong.

See what kind of warranty your junkyard will have on the part. Some around are as-is, some give you 30 day exchanges if defective. Odds are if it is bad it'll leak right away, so install, flush, leave water in, fire it up, get it hot, and let it sit to cool down, all the while checking for leaks. If it is good to go, then you're in business.

At the junkyard, pick a good one. Nissens or Volvo badged are the ones to go with. I'm not a big fan of aftermarket brands (CSF, Spectra, etc.) but YMMV.

I do see Behr as an option here, who make quality parts, at $135. I am unaware if there is a reason that is marked down, nor can I comment on the quality of that specific radiator. But, I don't know why it wouldn't have the same quality as other Behr parts..

Ideally, you would procure a new OE radiator.

Nissens is an aftermarket radiator, and they are garbage. I once made the mistake of installing one in my parents' 850, and within two years the radiator was leaking.

If you do some research, you will see that many Volvo (as well as BMW) owners have had similar experiences with the Nissens radiator.

      Good luck!

FWIW - I put a Behr radiator in my 855 almost 2 years ago. No issues. $135 is a bargain!
