95 850NA Warning lights on with key OFF ! 850 1995

'95 850 runs fine....turn key off & engine stops but instrument warning lights stay on. Tried pulling relays & even disconnecting ignition switch connector, no change & eventually battery runs down.

If the idle control motor next to the throttle body still runs, I would suspect you might need a new switch. In the meantime, keep a 10mm wrench handy and disconnect the ground on the battery.

Idle control motor is not running when engine is off & dash lights are on.

Short in wiring. I would look around the alternator and see if the small wires are not chaffed and touching, or loose.

More attempts at diagnosis! Removed all relays underhood. First one at atime then pulled them all. Dash warning lights still on. Unplugged ignition switch= lights still on. When reattaching battery cable fuel pump would run.
Outdoor temp warmed up from 20F to 50F. Hooked up battery & dash lights were OFF !
Engine flooded, so pulled plugs & added a bit of oil to cylinders. Engine starts & drove 20 minutes. Note ! KEY chime was dinging all this time. Shut off engine & warning lights are ON. Restarted & drove for 5 minutes, shut off & no warning lights. Chime starts as soon as key is put in ignition. Closing door & chime continues. When warning lights are on no other accesories work.
When first got car, light for driver's footwell was always on & bulb was removed. Dome light has always worked normally.

When my 140 did that it was a bad diode in the alternator.
Can't be sure that's the same with an 850, but who knows.
