Hi,

I live in Portland, Or. and I need to find a used a wiring harnass either online or through a private vendor. I have a 1999 Volvo V70XC and am not sure how to even order the part, it's name, etc. Also, the float in my radiator is broken aso the light is always on....or is it a sensor? How do I tell?

    Hello, Packard Motors in New Haven, VT is one place where they have a yard full of cars. Call them and indies like them and ask. The fluid might be low in your reservoir OR the float might be broken or stuck to the bottom of the reservoir OR the sensor (which inserts into a tube shaped recess in the bottom of the reservoir) is faulty. So, check the level first. If it's good then see if the float moves freely. Gunky coolant can cause the float to stick. Floats are part the reservoir and are not repairable. Sensors are known to go.       Closer to home there's a couple of Volvo wrecking yards in Sacramento, CA you might want to check out. Sweden Auto Warehouse and Volvo and Saab Auto Dismantlers.

    If you are talking about the coolant level sensor, don't worry. It's an easy fix. First determine that you have adequate coolant in the system. Then go about getting a replacement. I picked one up at the local pick and pull for very little. You can order them from any of the many parts places or ebay for $15-20.

    What kind of harness do you need? All of it? I would think changing out a complete wiring harness is a big project. Good luck.

    I'll leave the radiator question to more knowledgable folks, but try Erie Volvo for a wiring harness...they're located in Central NY, but ship anywhere, and offer warranteed used parts....I've been very happy with them..Erievovo(no L).com
