850 Turbo - Sat for a couple of Years 850

I'm going to look at a car tomorrow. Its an 850 turbo that has sat in a garage for 2 years. Apparently after a new battery and an oil change its running well. My question is, is there anything special I should look out for on account of it having sat unused for so long?

Sludge in the engine. Pull the dipstick when it is idling and see if she smokes excessively. That indicates a clogged PVC system.

Sitting for that long isn't good for all the rubber parts in the car. Check the condition of all the hoses, belts and other rubber parts as best you can.

Also make sure the brakes and tires okay. Was she up on blocks or sitting on the tires for the 2 years? If on the tires, there could be flat spots unless she was moved occasionally.

All makes good sense. Is there anything special about a turbo that makes sitting worse (I've never never owned a turbo).how much wouod you pay for a 1995 850 turbo with less than 60, 000 miles that sat for 2 years (a granny car).?

It is going to need new timing belt and S belt, along with new rollers. New fluids; ATF, brake, PS, antifreeze. New tires because of age.

Price??? It's 18 years old! Let the owner know that. The leather seats need to be conditioned, the AC probably doesn't work properly. There is no cabin air filter to keep out the dirt (FCP has the insert and filter), so the evaporator is probably dirty and potentially leaky.

The best part on this car is the OBD boxes on the passenger fender, you don't need a Volvo scan tool.

The 95's seem to develope an issue with the tranny slipping if driven hard in the "sport" mode especially. I don't suspect the "granny car" would have that issue at that low a mileage but you want to be sure to drive it enough at freeway speeds to warm the tranny up thoroughly. The first startup after stopping with a "hot tranny" will slip as if in the "winter" mode with no tranny codes. After that initial slipping it starts working fine. Check the tranny fluid for signs of burning and dark color. As Klaus states the AC evaporator is probably shot unless a cabin air filter has previously been installed. That's a BIG job as you can see by going into the "Bay 13" Volvo web site. The AC flexable lines are also most ceratinly leaking and would need to be replaced.
