simple questions from a new owner 850

Hi, all of my other Volvos have been red blocks, (140 series and older) I now have an 1996 5spd.850 turbo wagon, wooohooo and a bunch of simple questions:
A). what octane am I supposed to use?
B). Oil viscosity? ( I am assuming synthetic)
C). Manual trans. fluid?
D). Brake fluid anything special?
E). Coolant? (anything special or is prestone OK?)
F). Are there good repair manuals available? Older volvo's have the "green books" anything similar?

Thank you for your time and expertise!

Don't know much about the other fluids but don't scrimp on the anti freeze. The white blocks don't take too well to overheating. There was a big discussion on the RWD 900 forum about the 960 aluminum block engines talking about antifreeze and the metallurgy involved, Three different metals involved and the breaking down of cheap antifreeze and causing problematic overheating problems.

Quite correct. The 960 had problems with metal erosion and bock perforation due to 'cheap' antifreeze.

I don't know what is in my 850, but I will when I flush it! There is no rush because it is too cold to work on it and it is not currently insured.

Gentlemen, thank you for the information. I just purchased a copy of the owners manual and will look for a Haynes manual too.
It was a Very fast 850, I purchased it from a Volvo tech who swapped out the auto box for a 5spd. did some suspension and brake work, along with other goodies, (sport exhaust, intake,etc.)... and he had it seriously chipped I however only need a good driver that will pass emissions and get me to work and back, etc. So He put back in the stock ecu and flashed the chip to accept the manual trans., ( I think that's how it works)....But when he originally took me for a test drive when it had the "upgraded" chip it was 'CRAZY FAST!
Super nice guy in Ct. and very nice 850
Thanks again for all of the help!

    That is a rare combination!

A). what octane am I supposed to use?

Premium, if you are going to make use of full boost and rpm at 5,000. Otherwise, 97 octane will do.

B). Oil viscosity? ( I am assuming synthetic)

    10W30

C). Manual trans. fluid? I don't know - Volvo synthetic gearbox oil 1161423
    D). Brake fluid anything special?

    DOT4+

E). Coolant? (anything special or is prestone OK?)

    Zerex G05? or expensive OEM.

F). Are there good repair manuals available? Older volvo's have the "green books" anything similar?

Haynes 850 manual. There are no Green books.
