new heater core question S70 2000

I've just received the new heater core and there is a white plastic tube visible inside one of the ports. What is it? Having not yet removed the old one, I'm not sure if this belongs there.

    Pulled out the old one and broke off the plastic looking for something similar. Nothing there. If I can't find anything on the manufacturer's site(if they have one), I'll pull it out. Just seems like an unnecessary obstruction.

      It was evidently meant to be there. It's too long to have fallen in there by accident. It's a spiral tube which I damaged pulling on it. Hope it's not critical; it's staying in. Any info on this item would be appreciated.
