I need to choose between thule rack and factory rack. I have no rails (so rack fits right onto the roof). Thule Rack seems little more expensive but it made of separate pieces so replacement would be cheaper, volvo rack I have to drive a long way to get fast (I need it fast). Quality wise is volvo rack better fit than thule?

What is your opinion?

I just bought factory cross bars from the dealer and I am very happy with them. They go on fast, they lock, And they fit the car perfectly (nothing is sticking out). These are the kind that work without rails. Cost about $190.

On my V70/99 I went with Eurorails and Thule bars because of the additional spread v.s. were they would normally attach in the holes in the door frames.I sometimes carry a 16 foot canoe so the extra spread helps. I think you will find factory racks are actually made by thule as they are also based in Sweeden.I was actually able to find a dealer with a better deal than a thule dealer.I also found that thule components fit like a glove.

I have the factory rails with Thule crossbars and accessories. I find the Thule to be quick changing a very durable. Factory rails came with car so that was not my choice although I will admit I like the look. This is my 3rd car with Thule and I have never had any problems whatsoever.
