2000 S70 Timing S70

Finally got the timing RIGHT on my S70 (with CVVT) after the head gasket replacement and refitting of the valve/cam cover.
Hint: Do NOT USE #1 PISTON TDC FOR CRANK TIMING! The timing will be retarded.
I did several times and it just didn't seem to run right and I kept getting P0014 and P0342 codes.
Finally pulled the serp belt crank pulley and located the timing marks on the timing belt crank pulley and oil pump housing. Now it "kicks butt" like it used to!
I'll try to post a picture.
Tom

Aren't symantics a curse? Everyone knows that TDC stands for top dead center on cyl 1, except for Volvo. The crank timing mark, which is extremely difficult to see, is before true TDC. That and the use of the plastic belt cover on top with vague 'notches' of where the cam gears ought to line up. Who thought of that??? Why not have a stamp or ridge on the head so that everything can be lined up without the belt cover?

I'm glad you got her running again...
