CATALYTIC CONVERTER 97 850 N/A 850

Where to buy a good one besides the rather expensive (and not that good) Bosals at FCP or eEuro?

There's so many vendors on the net that I dont know wich one to buy and I'm seeking quiet one, because I used to buy an aftermarket one from my muffler guy for my other 850 and it's working perfectly (no codes) BUT IT'S NOISY.

Thanx a million

Norman

Not 'cheap' but it is OEM. Shipping is extra and it is a bulky item, I would call to ask before ordering.

Having a shop cut off the old cat and weld in a new generic will cost a couple of hundred.

Klaus,

I dont mind to cut off the old cat and weld in a new one in, I did it on my other 850 but the drawback is that it's more "noisier" because the outer shell is not as thick and insulated as the OEM ones. The CAT has something to do with exhaust noise, I'm talking about experience, oh yes!

Can you recommend me a good generic one, just the cake itself ?

Thx

You can't buy just the cake frosting. And, no, I cannot suggest which direction you go with a replacement cat. That is all up to you and your testing station. Here in MN, there is no testing.

Consider Tasca online for an OEM cat at a reasonable price. Don't know the cost compared to aftermarket ones.

Believe it is Tascaparts.com

Good thing you don't live in CA, OEM only there.

You are in luck, the CAT has nothing to do with exhaust noise. The cheaper the CAT, to poorer the performance and you may have to put a spacer in the rear O2 sensor so it is not triggered. See the write up on Volvospeed and Turbobricks.
