Hi guys i own a 1998 S70 T5M i would like to put a boost gauge on the A-pillar i was wondering how to run the wire to the motor...is there any holes thru the firewall...or is there a better place to mount the gauge...tks guys from Rob

Another option for gauge illumination is to plug the light bulb leads in to positions 6 ("rheostat") and 8 (ground) in the accessory power outlet in the driver's footwell. The crimp connectors provided in the ipd kit weren't the right size to tie into my headlight switch.

You didn't say if you bought the ipd kit or not, but I would certainly recommend it. Installation is clean and unobtrusive. However, unless ipd has recently revised them, the instructions only cover 1998 and earlier. Volvo went to throttle-by-wire for 1999, so installation is a little bit different for 1999 and on.

A-pillar works great. Pull the trip off the A-pillar (it just snaps on) and run the lines down the door pillar. You can tie the light into the dimmer portion of the headlight switch (it is the pink and black wires on the back of the headlight switch). Run the vacuum tubing through one of the rubber nipples of the firewall grommet directly under the fuse box. IPD has the instructions for the complete install if it gets too complicated 800.444.6473.

There is a pass through. On your car its located under the fuse box, and behind the gas pedal.
