Goodbye Old Friend 850 1995

Amidst the destruction of Sandy she has taken our beloved 1995 855T. A minor sacrifice in the grand scheme of the widespread destruction but many family memories were created with this car. Ironically, I was 68 miles short of 200K.

All told this was the best vehicle that I have ever owned with a low cost of ownership thanks to all of the people here on the Brickboard. Thank you for the years of tips and advise that kept the car performing like new (except for the standard squeeks and rattles) after 17 years.

I can't see myself purchasing another Volvo at this time as I don't have the heart to "debug" an older model and I don't particularly care for the newer models.

Many thanks to you all and best of luck with your bricks.

Robert

I am sorry for your loss. If you had comprehensive insurance, make sure you get a good value from the company, look on Autotrader and other online sites - not Ebay - and show the insurance company any repair receipts that demonstrates that you cared for the 855. Pictures of the car the last couple of months also help.

Good luck on finding something comparable, regardless of make.

Well said!

What is it about the older Volvo's that people become so attached to? Engineering, dependability, fun, personality?? Good luck with your next vehicle...:)
