2007 XC90 Rear Entertainment System

My rear entertainment system just went out on my 2007 XC90 with 43,000 miles on it. The dealer wants $1400 to replace the screens with built in DVD players. Says he has to get in touch with the company Volvo has make them to order. Does anyone know who makes the screes? Can I get them directly? I heard that aftermarekt screens can mess with the Volvo electrical system and trip sensors.

I hate that these went out at 43,000 especially when we used them less than a dozen times.

Thanks,

John Hodson

After tolking to Rick Bryant at Volvo of Norht America the resonse I get it....

You are 7,000 miles out of warranty and the delaer has to be the one to make the call to help you. They are saying you have no history with them since you are new and they are unwilling to help you.

WONDERFUL!!!!

If you bought the XC90 used, where was it serviced before? That might be a help.

I have always hated the DVD and the builtin GPS. A good dual rear screen DVD can be had at Target for $250. A dash mounted TomTom or Garmin for $150.

Time to call Volvo's 800 number and see if you can get a deal for fixing the original system. Is the problem the DVD player or the screens or the wiring?
