Fuel Return Line 850

I have a 1994 N/A 5 speed 850 and I continue to have an issue with the engine flooding. Fuel literally pours out of the intake manifold. When I pull the vacuum line form the FPR there is not fuel coming out so I know that is ok. But when I disconnect the fuel return line at the fuel rail absolutely nothing comes out. As I look under the car I see a gizmo that looks likes a fuel pressure regulator on the fuel return line. I can see it when I open the hood and look behind the engine. It is located on the fuel return line right below the firewall. Does anyone have any idea what it does or what part number it is? I have checked http://www.volvowebstore.com and looked at all the diagrams but no luck. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Edwin

I would think that there's nothing coming out of the return line because it's all leaking out of the injectors. Maybe the regulator is stuck and allowing the fuel pump to force gas out of the injectors. Do you have a manual vacuum pump you could connect to the regulator or maybe a vacuum gauge that you could attach to the line to see if there's any vacuum reading?

Thanks Fix It. I had the car towed today to an indy Volvo shop and turns out the ECU is bad. I ordered 1 on ebay today for $100.
