Klaus,
I took your wise post, and synthesized it into questions for the dealer. Here is the response:
"Hi Andrew,
I do not have a lot of information on the Volvo, only what I have from the carfax. The carfax is clean & shows 3 owners. There is no service history for the 1st owner other than it was a lease vehicle. At 49,000 miles the vehicle had rear brake pads & rotors replaced, new tires and basic maintenance performed. It was also Volvo Certified. At 62,000 miles basic maintenance was performed, the throttle body was cleaned, tuned up and the brake system was flushed. At 71,000 miles an O2 sensor was replaced, turbocharger control valve was replaced and the catalytic converter was replaced. At 73,000 miles the coolant temperature sensor was replaced, Thermostat was replaced, front brake pads & rotors were resurfaced and basic maintenance performed. At 76,000 miles the engine computer was re-programed, pcv system was checked and the ignition control module was replaced. At 91,000 miles spark plugs were replaced, ignition coils were replaced and basic maintenance performed. At 93000 mile the power steering rack & pinion gear was replaced, sway bar links were replaced & a 4 wheel alignment was performed. I have no information regarding the ***timing belt & water pump.*** (EEEEP?!) The vehicle does have 2 keys. There is one fob but the case is badly cracked & missing pieces, it does not work but I don't even know if it has a battery in it. There are no cross bows on the roof rack. I would take $2600 cash for the vehicle which is substantially under the NADA book value of $5725, so there should be some room for you to replace the parts you mentioned. If you need any additional information or would like to make arrangements to take a test drive, let either myself or our sales manager, Bob Page, know.
Thank You for your interest,
Scott Saylor

Not a bad response, but With my limited knowledge and experience with the Post-RWD volvos, I don't believe I would touch one that did not have a well documented timing belt replacement history, regardless whether it did receive a change every 70k.
