S 40 stopped running on trip S40-V40

Purchased 2000 S40 T 1.9 with 199k miles and rebuilt trans. Just stopped yesterday after about 100 mi country drive. Noticed hesitation going up a hill and then it stopped running at a stop sign. Eventually was able to start but it would not stay running. I have only had it about 5 weeks and driven it about 4k miles. What are the obvious things to check, fuel pump fuse, fuel pump shut off switch, inline fuel pump, in tank fuel pump? Mike

ANSWER S 40 stopped running on trip S40-V40

There is only one fuel pump, inserted into the tank. Is the tank empty?

Of course, check the fuse, pump relay. If there is no check engine light, the stoppage is usually fuel related.

I agree w/ Klaus. Listen for a fuel pump "buzz" at KPII.

Edit: I see you already have it answered. What was it?
