Oxygen Sensor Spacer -anyone used for ECM4201? S60

Has anyone had luck with this for CEL code ECM-4201? It would be much cheaper than a new cat. Cheers

Does this mean that you are getting the CEL again?

High flow cats don't heat as fast as OEM and will show too much O2 at the rear sensor until the CAT warms up. A problem for those aftermarket rice burner beaters.

You might have a better answer if you post this problem/solution at Turbobricks or volvospeed...

I'm surprised....I got the codes pulled and it is apparently P0133. Apparently the aftermarket Denso upstream O2 sensor that I put in a couple months ago is on the fritz.

I wrote for my 1 year warranty replacement. Hopefully they'll send me a new one and that will solve the problem.

Any thoughts of something else causing this code? I did notice an occasional gasoline smell. Assuming it was a stinky car passing me on the road, but maybe it is my s60.

I also bought a 20$ code reader so I don't have to drive and wait at 1/2hr at the autostore for them to read my codes. Cheers

Here is a list of things to check:

Check and fix any exhaust leaks
Check for wiring problems (shorted, frayed wires)
Check the frequency and amplitude of the oxygen sensor
Check for a deteriorating / contaminated oxygen sensor, replace if necessary
Check for inlet air leaks and vacuum line leaks
Check the MAF sensor for proper operation

The third item is best done with a very good scan tool, and someone who knows the proper values. Your $20 scanner will not do it.

Many Thanks Klaus! A couple of questions:

Is there an easy way to do 5 and 6?
Are special tools needed for these?

Will the good quality scanner include the normal values for #3?
Wondering if Advance AutoParts scanner has this function? It looked really high tech.

Cheers -Sam

I would need to read the instruction manual for the AA scanner for #3 & #6, and then someone to interpret the signals to see if they are within parameters for this particular engine.

Checking for vacuum leaks can be tedious. Just start at the throttle body and any vacuum lines that go to the intake manifold. Look for cracks and loose lines. If you have a turbo, don't forget the 3 lines that go to the boost controller.
It is possible to use a butane tank with the engine running and if the idle changes, you have found a leak. Some people don't like to mess with flammable gas with the engine running...

Thanks Klaus. All is working well now.

What I did:
Cleaned out and reassemble entire air flow system making sure I got a good seal on everything, including reconnecting little hoses on engine and heater hose.

Cleaned mass air sensor with MAS cleaner
New air filters
Cleaned out throttle body and manifold with throttle cleaner and a new gasket

Started up and is running great. No more CEL and the idle is much smoother. No longer hunting for RPMs at red lights.

Yes it's back unfortunately. I put in new O2 sensors and it went away for a couple of months. The CEL just came back on yesterday. I'll have to run the codes to make sure it's ECM 4201 but I'm assuming it is.

I'll check out those other forums. Thanks for the advice. Cheers
