Intermittent Cruise control S70 1998

Pulled on the highway and attempted to engage the cruise control. No response. This at 60+ miles per hour.

Short while later, down the highway, tried cruise again and it engaged.

Seems intermittent. Any thoughts on what to check?

Was wondering if this control is vacuum controlled?

Intermittent Cruise control S70 1998

The 1998 and earlier are vacuum controlled, but it has its own vacuum pump - not engine vacuum. The vacuum pump is attached to the bottom of the battery tray.

Your problem might be the switch over the brake pedal getting old. The brake pedal has 2 switches, one for brake lights and the other for CC. The CC switch has vacuum lines going into it.
