Thinking about replacing my 99 s70 that just hit 150K. Any problems I should be looking for?

I like to see clean cars on Craigslist, but someone detailed the engine also. There is a Tbelt sticker on the computer box, check the date and mileage. If it truely was garage kept, the door pull vinyl should not have started to pull off. It has an NA engine, so not a lot of BHP, but no turbo complications either.

When you go look at the car, set the blower to auto and the vent selector to auto and then start the engine. Look for the blinking lights of death on the recirc and AC switches.

Check the tranny fluid, it should be dark red. Pink if recently flushed. The antifreeze appears to be original fluid.

$5500 is a lot of money, so EVERYTHING should work as new. And maintenance history should be available - read it.

Thanks. Spoke to the owner and he says there are no records. He said there would be no problem taking it into a volvo shop for inspection. Sight unseen I was thinking in the low 4k's. Too much??

That is a red flag. What happened to the repair records? Is it being sold by a whole-seller or a buyer who picks up cars at auction, washes and details, and then tries to turn a quick profit?

For a $5000 investment, a $25 Carfax will settle that.

$4500 would be a good settlement price. Remember, the car is 14 years old and the vacuum and coolant hoses are also that old. Mileage is only important for the steering gear and suspension.
