Rack seal leakage S60 2001

We started seeing puddles under the S60T5 lately and noticing loss of power steering fluid.
I pulled the belly pan (and cleaned up the pool in it) and got under and the ONLY place
I can see anything coming out is from the boot between the rack and the right front wheel.
Is this a common problem? Require a new rack or just a seal? Car has about 170K.
What does the financial impact look like?
Many thanks!

Leave the belly pan off for a while so you can monitor the leak. If it is a slow leak, there are AT and PS additives to clean the seals. And remind all of the drivers to NOT hold the steering wheel in the extreme right/left position as it creats too much pressure in the system. Just back off about an inch.

Check what fluid your PS calls for first, then consider flushing the PS fluid and replacing it with synthetic. Within a matter of a few months that stopped the seals from leaking on my 850. It's been a year and half and no further problems..:)
