Replacement Tires for C70 (225/45-v17)? C70 1999

I am looking for suggestions on replacement tires that aren't going to cost me an arm and a leg and also have longer treadlife. I am willing to sacrifice a little performance for treadlife. Most of my driving is on the freeway. Here has been my brief experience with Pirellis:

P6000- I am not satisfied with the treadwear on these. Not only is it short, but even with constant rotating of the tires, they still have worn out on the inner side much quicker than the outer. They are also fairly expensive.

P7000 Super Sport - I replaced my original p6000 with the p7000 (cheaper and on the hopes that they would be more durable). The P7000 has been pretty good. I think I have been able to get about 30K out of them (mostly freeway driving). They have worn evenly as well. Although, I think they are much noisier than the P6000.

All in all, I was pleased with the P7000, but I want more treadlife for less money (and I'll sacrifice performance)!!!

Thanks for any suggestions and or thoughts.

Re: Replacement Tires for C70 (225/45-v17)? C70 1999

Hi Geoff,

I just changed my tires about 3 weeks ago. I called TireRack and they recommended the Bridgestone Potenza RE730. So far, they have been just as good as the original Michelins...even better during the wet weather we've been having here in Southern California. Check them out, because they have a really high rating for treadwear, traction, and temperature. Plus the price is really reasonable.

I too am ready for tires. I was thinking of going to the Bridgestone SO2s in lieu of the Michelin MXX3. One of my primary complaints has always been noise and an overly aggresive feel. They seem to more Hunt then Track the road. Anybody have any other suggestions. Whats the speed rating on the RE730's?

The speed rating for the RE730 is ZR. 149+ mph...that should satisfy the car.

I purchased Kumho Ecsta Supra ZR 17s to replace the OEM Pirelli's. I've been very happy with them, especially concerning cost and road noise (a big factor with the convertible). I got mine online from TireRack.
