The speedometer face on this car is most difficult to read. For some strange reason it goes to 160 MPH, never mind there is no way the car would go this fast. Also, markings are too close together and then every 20 MPH starting at 20MPH. Most of the commonly posted speeds are not even on the speedometer face. Our 98 S 70 is easily read as have been our older Volvo's. Is there a way to change the face to become more readable? This is especially a problem in daylight.

For a company supposedly concerned with safety, Volvo fell far short on this one.

Sadly, you will need to get used to it.

The new Volvos have an information screen in the middle of the large gauges.

The needles are red and about 1' long, floating around the circumference of the info screen.

The European turbo models do go 155MPH.

Unlesss you want to go back to the 70's(?) and find a speedo that only goes to 85 with 55 past the 90 degree mark...

The "R" models have a nice light blue face that is easy to read.

Am far into progressive lens for a long time. The R models are what I want to consider. Just need an old R instrument panel to change out the needles and faces. Thanks. My 144 and 122's were better that the present unit. Or was I younger??

You were a LOT younger then. The 122 is a tape speedo, and the top mark of the leading edge is 5mph faster than the trailing edge, so which is the correct speed? On mine, the tape doesn't move until I go over 20 and then it takes its time to get lower than 20.

If you want to check the accuracy of your speedo, bring a GPS along and have it read out the mph. You might be 5mph too slow?

I am not sure if an R cluster will even swap with your car, too many computers.
