Body roll in corners S60 2007

2007 2.5T - I feel as though my car should handle a bit tighter than it does. She just turned 80k, struts are "fine" (no leaks, bounce test is passed), sway bar endlinks seem okay from what I can conjure. Its not as though it is terrible, overall ride quality is decent but I notice bridge expansion joints can sometimes feel harsh, I am attributing that to the BF Goodrich SuperSports on all 4 corners, but perhaps its indicative of something else? I know the 2.5T is not positioned as a sports car, I understand the S60R has 4C chasis, but sometimes I just feel mine should corner a bit better than it does. I know the car is heavy, I know its not a sports tuned suspension....it has stock 16 inch rims, is it just me or do the 2.5t's have mediocre handling? I took an offramp a little faster than the posted speed limit....40 instead of 30 and just felt like I had to do a little more "lean to the right" than I should expect.

Maybe the struts are tired? I have no interest i Bilsteins but if mine can be nearing end of life at 80k then I can look into having that done, crappy sway bar endlinks? Just not sure if its normal, in my head, or if there is a creeping "issue"

Thoughts?

BTW, did you ever notice that when the corner sign speed ends in a zero, that is a good indication that it means it? If the speed ends in 5, then one can usually go 15mph faster without discomfort or itchy pitts!

I've noticed that often times when I negotiate a curve in a "sporting" manner, there a shrieking noice coming from somewhere around the passenger seat.

No 'sporting' drives with your wife! It is quite difficult to sit passively while having no control, to say nothing about a full bladder!

I will have to check for "dips" while braking, doesn't feel like there is any from within the car but will get my trusty helper to drive while I monitor.

There is not a strut tower per se, but there is a cross beam which essentially links the outer sides of the strut towers together, about half way down attaches the upper toque engine mount. I am guessing the purpose of this deal is strictly as engine support and not performance as the mount points on the strut towers are nothing more than bushings if you will, i'll take some pics.

Wouldn't surprise me if the struts are getting tired....after all it is central MA. - You'd think you were on the surface of the moon when in reality its just the local interstate.

Klaus, good point about the speed limits, now that you say it I can appreicate what you are saying....when it says 20 MPH its usually a doosy, when it says 35...you're good for at least 45!

As a side note, the AC vents in the B pillars paid dividends today, sitting in traffic I registered 106 on the ambient air sensor, cooler than the North Pole inside! Those B pillar vents help to really even out the temp from front to back!

What I meant with the 'dipping' is nose diving at normal stopping pressure. When you come to a full stop, does the nose of the car raise up 1 inch or more. Less than an inch is considered good, more than that is usually a bad strut.

I haven't driven the 'normal' S60, the "R" is a bit on the rough side and does not 'lean' much.

Well, you are right. The heavy car does not have 'sport' suspension and understeer is a problem. Do you have a tower brace? If not, I suggest getting one.

One way to test your struts is to see if the nose dips a lot when braking.
